Preparation Course for ÖIF A2 Exam

is the next level from the integration course of the German language.
Participants who have completed the German Course A2 must be able to give a comprehensive answer to a question, read simple texts, and use basic expressions and uncomplicated sentences in their language. The preparation course for the integration test A2 is an excellent opportunity to prepare for the test to obtain the residence permit and to feel more confident in unusual speaking situations.

Goals and Tasks of Course Participants

The language level A2 requires a not quite secure, but more advanced command of the language. After completing the course, participants can read short texts and informational articles from newspapers, can maintain conversations on general topics, express emotions, understand and respond to letters from authorities in simple language.

The preparation course for ÖIF A2 exam not only includes learning additional vocabulary but also delves deeper into grammar.

Who is the ÖIF German Language Course A2 for?

The Integration Course German A2 is intended for immigrants who entered the country with level A1 but want to improve their knowledge or want to obtain or extend their residence permit. To extend your stay in Austria, you must complete certified ÖIF German language courses and master German at level A2. If you already have a residence permit, you must complete Module 1 of the integration agreement within two years and demonstrate your German skills at level A2. The Integration Course German A2 in Vienna covers the following topics:

1. My Story

Every immigrant has their own story of moving to Austria. The first topic of language level A2 is dedicated to the special moments from each participant's life. It is important here to argue from each standpoint. One must not only express their opinion but also explain why they think so. Course participants also discuss their favorite film genres and recommend them to each other. Additionally, the topic of freedom of speech is addressed, discussing its importance and its development in different countries.

3. Weekend

Participants share with each other and the teacher how they usually spend their weekends. The topic includes vocabulary for describing various leisure activities. For example, going to the cinema or exhibitions, shopping with friends, or visiting parents. Course participants discuss where they plan to go in the near future. This topic also involves composing short messages and responses. Participants also practice how to place an order in a restaurant.

4. Education System

The focus of this topic is on schools in Austria. However, participants can also recall and discuss educational institutions in their home country. Course participants discuss what the mandatory curriculum looks like for Austrian students. Matters regarding parent-teacher meetings are discussed within the group, whether they are current in Austria and what issues they address. This topic also involves conversations about one's own school experiences. Each person talks about the educational institutions they have completed or attended, the subjects they studied, their current work, and their dream career.

5. At the Workplace

This theme covers designations for various professions. The second sub-theme concerns relationships within the work team. Situations that could occur in any workplace are simulated in class. Participants learn to discuss everyday situations and interact appropriately with colleagues. Course participants learn how to politely request something in German. They also learn how to correctly write service notes in class.

6. Dream Apartment

Participants discuss the apartments and houses where they live. Attention is given to describing the furnishings and living conditions. Each person talks about their dream home. This topic also includes vocabulary and phrases related to apartment hunting. Participants read and write apartment listings. Imaginary dialogues with neighbors are created and discussed. The process of moving is also simulated and discussed.

7. Celebrating Events

The topic of celebrations and gifts is one of the most enjoyable and comprehensive. This includes discussions about various celebrations, festivities, and traditions. Participants learn how to write invitations, express congratulations, and offer wishes for various occasions correctly. Course participants pay attention to discussions about selecting appropriate gifts. This topic also covers vocabulary and expressions important for organizing parties. Participants practice giving compliments and saying kind words.

8. New Opportunities

Moving to a new country promises new opportunities for education, career, and personal growth. All these details are discussed in the "New Opportunities" topic. Each participant learns to talk about their own goals after immigration. A prior discussion of various interests helps in deciding on specific goals and dreams. Adequate attention is given to vocabulary and expressions for describing the need for further education. By the end of the class, every student knows how to enroll in a course of interest.

9. Healthy Lifestyle

Participants learn vocabulary for discussing "Sport and Healthy Living." They learn the German names for various sports and physical activities. Each course participant mentions their favorite sport and talks about the role of sports in their life. The second area of this topic is health check-ups. Participants learn how to schedule a doctor's appointment. They also practice possible dialogues with the pharmacist at the pharmacy. Participants learn the names of the most important medicines and learn their correct pronunciation and spelling.

10. Job Search

In class, the topic of job search and professional duties in different positions is discussed. Participants learn the names of various professions and learn about their specifics. Each person discusses the advantages and disadvantages of their profession. Course participants also explain their plans regarding career development. In class, everyone learns how to write a resume correctly. Detailed dialogues are created to simulate a job interview. At the end of the course, everyone can easily and clearly answer the questions of a hiring manager during a job interview.

11. From Place to Place

Participants discuss travel and its significance in people's lives. In class, course participants learn how to book trips at travel agencies. Emergency situations that may occur during a trip are worked through. For example, participants learn how to call emergency services and what to say on the phone. Additionally, participants write and role-play dialogues that can be used during a journey. Non-intrusive topics for conversation with fellow travelers, such as the weather, serve as useful aids.

12. Meeting Point

Within this topic, unsolicited obligations taken for various reasons are discussed. Participants talk about employments and institutions. Course participants go through various types of common contracts. This also involves communication with mail carriers, property management staff, and others. Vocabulary and expressions for explaining one's position on relevant matters are learned.

13. Banks and Insurance Companies

Course participants learn how to fill out bank documents. Participants discuss in broad terms the principles of operation of banks and insurance companies. This includes how to open an account or take out insurance. Course participants also learn how to write a complaint letter if necessary.

14. Friends and Acquaintances

This topic presupposes considerations about the importance of friendship in people's lives. Participants discuss the difference between an acquaintance and a friend. It is discussed when a friendship is truly strong. Furthermore, participants tell each other if they have a best friend. Each participant gives a comprehensive answer to all these questions. Discussions are also held about friends and feelings of friendship, discussing the topic of relationships and what a relationship is based on. In the end, students come to the conclusion of the place friendship occupies in their lives.
